Dar Health Initiative hosts community seminars where communities can come together to learn about important health topics. There are so many real life questions that need answers. We value preventative care and teaching others to take charge of their health within their own ability. If something needs medical attention, we work with local clinics for proper care. We have found that hosting community seminars empowers individuals to live healthier lives. The most important thing to us at DHI is to not only care for others in a physical sense, but to share the soul saving words of the gospel. To sponsor a clinic, please follow the link above under HEALTH KITS. $250 USD provides resources, chai (a traditional tea-time meal) and 4 hours of education for 60 people, as well as $30 gives custom relief care packages for individuals.

An example of a health seminar:

We talk about all things hygiene, disease awareness and prevention. Did you know that mosquitos reproduce in water? When water is left around for cooking or bathing, it can bring a breeding ground for mosquitos, increasing the chances of malaria. We teach on various health topics and answer questions, then ask a local mama to teach on hand-soap making. If an individual comes to the seminar with a few thousand shillings (under $5 USD), then they can take home their own soap making start up kit from the demonstration. If they do not come with that, they are more than welcome to watch the demonstration. We use this system and apply it to what the health needs are of a specific area. Sometimes it is only about diseases and modes of transmission, other times it is about wound care treatment. DHI loves hosting community seminars!
